Letter from The Children's Hospital at Westmead

We have received a lovely letter from the staff at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

“400 in 4” Charity Ride making a difference to our Burns Unit

For the fourth consecutive year a group of fire fighters from the NSW Fire Brigades has embarked on a 400km, 4 day bike ride from Campbelltown Fire Station to Wagga Wagga stopping at Goulburn, Yass and Gundagai and raising funds for the Burns Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead whilst promoting fire safety messages.  This year they raised over $30,000 and have raised over $90,000 to date which is an amazing achievement!

The monies raised through the fundraising efforts of the “400 in 4” allows us to fund an Anaesthetic Fellow in the Burns Unit.  The Fellow is responsible for providing expertise in the provision of pain relief.  The Fellow treats 4-6 patients per day on average and is also involved with pain relief in Theatres and during dressing changes on the Ward and in our Outpatients Clinic.

The generosity of everyone involved in the “400 in 4” Charity Ride is wonderful and has a direct impact on the treatment we provide our patients. We thank them for their amazing support and commitment and wish them all the best for 2010.
